Hi

Golf mk7 gti MY2013 has standard composition media system w/o nav. I would like to get a nav system but don't want to lose the functionality from the MID and steering wheel controls not to mention the main controls in the touch screen itself.

I have been looking at Pioneer AVIC-F80DAB
http://www.pioneer-car.eu/uk/products/avic-f80dab

But am not sure what I would lose and what I would retain in terms of controls

Opinions and help please

I'm 99% sure there will be a patch cable for your car to that stereo unit, they have been around for donkeys and keep the steering wheel controls working.

Have you thought about upgrading to another OEM unit that has NAV?

I have a friend on Facebook who does many retrofits. He is very good. He's recoded and modified several parts for me.

Otherwise the Kenwood units are quite good. Not sure if VW offer them as OEM anymore though.

My local dealer had the Kenwood retrofit advertised today when I popped in (think it was £599 fitted, but might be wrong?)

Can you PM your FB friend as I would prefer an oem that has nav preferably MIB2 8 inch screen fully intergrated

Any issues getting this chap to commit? Been talking to him last couple of weeks about retrofitting mib2 and rear camera but getting assurances out of him is tough.

I had the RVC retrofitted to my car - official VW kit and 4 hrs labour came to just over £500. Had to be coded with online system - VCDS couldn't do it, due to age of the car. Worth it if you've got all the other toys (already have the Discover Pro)

I've never had any issues neither have any of my friends. He works odd hours sometimes.

His written English is not the best as he is European, but face to face he is fine.
