Am I dreaming theis or did I see a post recently about a 'cheap' GPS system?
Maybe it was elsewhere!
Anyone else seen anything on this.
Cost was about £200 and was based on a PDA.

Actually meant a satnav GPS system and not a 'safety camera' gizmo.

I picked up a PDA with built in reciever about 4 weeks ago, MIO168. It was around £240-£250 if I remember correctly. Can let you know where from and exact price if interested.
Went for this as it will have other uses (unlike specific GPS equipment, ie. TOMTOM) being a pocket PC and I thought the best bit having its on built in reciever. came with GPS software and maps on the memory card.
I am also trying it out on the golf course as well with some Golf GPS software just purchased.

Hi Chirs!

Take a look what TomTom has to offer, especially there iPaq solutions. (Could be what you are looking for.)

Or get yourself an Motorola A9xx or A1000 UMTS Smartphone, these models have a build in aGPS modul.
WayFinder is a software you can buy for 199,- Euro that will do the same as TomTom, but downloads the current map from the Internet (handy if you leave your area, but expensive in terms of data traffic + roaming).
MapView GPS II is a free GPS Software for the Motorola (and other SymbianOS UIQ SmartPhones), but you have to download the maps and save it on your phone first ... Maps can be found on the internet, and guides how to create your own. Unfortunately, these Freeware is not equiped with a location database, so you can not search for an address ... unless you haven't trained or stored it before.
