I am going to be sending an item in the post but I do not have the original receipt for it. I was going to send it special delivery. If it gets lost am I pretty much screwed in terms of claiming with not having a receipt?

If it gets lost in the post your claim is with the carrier, not with the person you bought it from (assuming you paid for the post).

If it's anything valuable consider sending by courier - Royal Mail are very slow at responding to claims.

My issue is with the value. My parents bought me it 20 years ago but I do not have the receipt, so if it gets lost how do I make a claim on it?

When we've claimed for missing packages they always ask for proof of item value.

Effectively meaning that as I arent selling the item, just sending it for a service, it would be pointless claiming etc.
