They no longer seem to be available. Could do with something like the old Cortina/Sierra P100 or even a VW Caddy.

I just need 2 doors and sub 2 litres.

There's been mention of a Duster pick-up - anyone know when they will be available ?

No market for them here, pickups need to be big, covered in chrome and give homoerotic names.

Apparently the Duster one will not be released here as it may take sales from the Alaska and Navarra.

Not sure how many 'car' based pickups there are these days. Although I wouldn't exactly call a p100 a small vehicle exactly.

You can still get 2wd pickups like the Ranger and Hilux in 2 door config, but they seem to be pretty rare these days.

Not exactly small, probably not a million miles off a p100.

I think the Oz market still has utes which are more car based, including things like the Maloo, but not really UK market vehicles.

How new or old does it need to be?

There are still plenty of pick up Defender 90's. Obviously very 4x4, but actually small being about the same length as a Pug 106.

Sadly it's because we live in the UK and it rains a lot, stuff in the back gets wet if it hasn't been stolen yet.

Shame because I always had a soft spot for them but I'd likely never buy one as I can't think of a single practical application for my life.

I think the Duster Pick-up is not sold In EU. (EU meaning Europe not European Union, before you start waiting 'till we leave biggrin)

Good suggestion, but I regularly drive a Defender (and have been driving L-Rovers for 40 years) and I know for certainty that's not what I want. Clearly, as I thought, the car derived type no longer exist.

Jeep have been showing this off recently. Looks awesome, still 4x4 based, but the Renegade is hardly a hard core off roader.

However I doubt we will get them in the UK. Most people opt for vans, which is likely why there are no such compact pickups on the market today in the UK.

I don't think Fiat sold many so you might struggle to find one. The dealer in Southampton had one in their showroom for ages! They're a proper commercial dealer as well, so I would've thought they'd know exactly who would buy it

Absolutely, sod getting a 2.0 micro truck, go all in and get the big daddy of SPORT utility vehicles.

Those Fiat things are just shy of £20k new and depreciate at a rapid rate, spend £10k on a Maloo an have plenty of petrol money and enjoy minimal depreciation

Make one!

http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/buying-mai...

OK, that one is based on an M3, but it would work equally well with one of the four pot or diesel versions.

I'm with you on modern pickups, they're bloody horrible. The Japanese and European ones have followed the Yank trend and gone from utility vehicles to comically macho "lifestyle statements".

Or £10750 + VAT new

http://www.plattsvancentre.com/fiat-professional-n...

You could probably get that down to around £10k + VAT with an easy haggle. Commercial vehicle price lists bear no relation to actual prices, I've seen discounts of 50% off list on a Vivaro before, brand new and unregistered!
