Golf 1.4 TSI ACT GT (140 PS) - 2013 - £12,295 - good deal?
Discussion
Hi,
I'm looking for a new "used" car, and do roughly 7-8,000 miles per year (occasional motorway driving). I was recommended a VW Golf 1.4, but wondered what people thought about the following one -
Volkswagen Golf 1.4 TSI ACT GT (140 PS) - 2013 - 32,750 miles - manual
http://usedcars.volkswagen.co.uk/dealer/Golf/1.4-T...
They have agreed to sell it at £12,295 with 2 years warranty/services - would you say this is a good price?
Thanks

I would ask for clarification and detail on the 2 year services. If it's on fixed servicing then that will be 2 annual services. If it's on variable - with your mileage - it might not even be 1 service.
You need to look at other things too. When will it next need tyres? Is the engine belt or chain? What the service interval on that?
It is not a bad price in fact it is within £50 of CAP retail.
Being a 3 door and Sunset Red is not the most desirable of combinations (I really like the colour but it is not an easy sale like black or grey) but the fact it is a GT spec with the TSi engine which will be even more sought after in these anti-diesel times are definitely plus points.
So add in the fact it has heated leather and the two year deal you mentioned I would say if you are happy with the car the price is good enough.

Thanks, it's an offer they are running at the moment if you take out finance.1 x major and 1 x minor service. If it's on fixed servicing then that will be 2 annual services. If it's on variable - with your mileage - it might not even be 1 service.

I'll clarify about the tyres and the engine belt,as there seems to be conflicting information online.

Thanks, any idea on a rough value in 5 years time assuming 10,000 miles a year?Being a 3 door and Sunset Red is not the most desirable of combinations (I really like the colour but it is not an easy sale like black or grey) but the fact it is a GT spec with the TSi engine which will be even more sought after in these anti-diesel times are definitely plus points.

But for reference a clean 9 year old (so 08 plate) 3dr Gt Sport Tsi with 83000 miles on would be worth around £3k trade value in today's market.
