Hello,

I have been avoiding buying a PDK or Flappy paddle car for while now. I really do prefer manuals. As the years tick buy this will prove harder and harder. I was given a Boxster S curtesy car today. The PDK is impressive but what I hate is that even in Sport + Mode the car will still change up for me even when I don't want it to.

Does the GT3 do the same or will it hold a gear in the revs until I decide to change up?

The 991 GT3 will bounce off the limiter (if you are in the correct mode) and NOT change up unless you ask it to.

On my 997.2 4S if you were in manual mode (shifter pushed left), it would never change up on its own.

Remember the GT3 PDK box is different as its a PDKs box. In manual mode as stated above it will only change down when not instructed to prevent engine stall, never up. In auto mode in S mode it will only change up at 9000 rpm. Box does not have a creep mode, ie it will roll back on a hill even when in gear, although brakes may hold you for around 2 secs in a hill start type of situation

I've gone from a 991 GT3 RS to a 991.2 C2 GTS, and the gear change speed of the GTS' PDK gearbox is now practically the same as the RS. The GTS still has creep function which you need in traffic and low spec, and the + - action of the lever has changed to GT3 spec, so back for an up change, forward for a downchange.

My apologies the Boxster S PDK in manual mode will hold a gear. I have to admit I was impressed with the PDK and now makes me think I wouldn't mind a GT3 with a PDK.
