With 9.9 million viewers, it beat Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway
Hardly surprising. I should think being wanked by Michael Jackson using a cheese-grater full of glass shards and wasps would be entertaining compared to 1 millisecond in the company of those two shagnasties.
Saying that "he's quit" or, worse, "quit after only one epsiode" as the BBC site puts it, it somewhat emotive. He's just declined to do a further series, that's all.
I'm surprised, to be honest. Years ago the writers shot themselves in the foot by saying that a Time Lord can only have a fixed number of re-generations. We must be up to that number by now?
The likes of Colin Baker and Peter Davidson leaving after only a short stint hasn't helped, although Tom Baker's long tenure did.
So I'm surprised that, given this, they didn't lock Christopher Ecclescake in for several series.
I'll be interested to see how the writers deal with the next re-generation. As I said, I'm sure we've reached or already exceeded the allowed number.

I read some weeks ago that he wasn't prepared to do a second series. I thought the first episode was absolute crap personally.
Where are the freakin Daleks.
Seem to turn up in episodes 5 and/or 6. Interview with a cast member who appears in those episodes on Teletext today where he has a line that (wrongly),mocks their inability to climb stairs.

Wrongly? Is it non-PC to criticise Darleks now?
