Nikon D3200 Liveview issue - "Error - Press Shut..."

Having a persistent issue on my D3200 with Liveview - 99/100 times it will flag up the generic issue "Error - Press Shutter Release". It sounds like the mirror is retracting, and the camera takes shots in viewfinder mode just fine (and I can retract mirror for cleaning too).
Googling has been no use. I updated camera to latest Firmware and tried all my lenses but no improvement.
The only thing Ive found, oddly, is that when the camera is cold (i.e. Ive been out with it during the day in cold weather even just in my bag) it works almost 100% of the time...
Any ideas before I take it to a repair shop? Out of warranty...
