Exhaust question for e36 M3 3.0
Discussion
Exhaust questions. The car is a dedicated track cat but is road legal.
I have a 1996 e36 M3 3.0 that has a broken exhaust. It has broken at the joint between the middle section and front section on the front section side. There are 2 pipes and one is completely broken and the other one not looking so good. My questions are
Is the front section all the way up to the manifold or is a short joining piece to the manifold?
Is it worth taking the opportunity to put on a different (better) system
Hoping you can help as need to get it done quite quickly for the next track day.

If I understand you correctly it's your manifold that's cracked. You'll find 2nd hand ones available, you're lucky it's a 3.0 as they're cheaper than 3.2. New ones from BMW are quite expensive.
You might be able to take it off and have it fixed but in my experience that's a ball ache and can result in doing the job more than once.
I wouldn't bother with after market manifolds, the BMW ones flow well.
