Mercedes History
Discussion
Hi,
Just bought a 2000 SLK 320 from a good friend and business acquaintance. He's had it for 15 years and hardly used it (25k miles). Fantastic little car which following a good clean, a front end respray, a couple of front wings, wheel refurb, new badges and rear stop light, is as good as new and I love it.
Problem is, although I know the mileage is genuine and the MOT mileage checker confirms this to an extent, the car is a little light on service history.
I'll be taking it to Mercedes in the next 3-6 months for a service and I'm sure they'll tell me what they know about the car but was wondering whether any fellow PH'er had access to the MB system in the meantime and could tell me whether the car has ever been in the MB network.
The chassis number is WDB1704652F180782 and previous reg number W716 XJA.
Many thanks in advance.

Mercedes are a bit difficult sometimes, you have to contact the main network to find where the car was serviced and then go talk to those individual dealers to get copies of the servicing, it took months for me to get history for a C-Class I had a couple of years ago but I did get it eventually after pestering them. Could it just be light on history because of the mileage? Great buy btw.
Cheers Luke, suspect there isn't a huge amount of history to find. I've got stuff going back to 2011 and the online MOT History checker confirms mileage back to 2006. The guy I bought it from had it from 2002 so if he only did 11k from 2006 - 2017, it doesn't take too much imagination to accept that it only did 13k up to 2006.
I'm really chuffed with the car, drives great, really solid. This is my third SLK and has reminded me that I've priced myself out of my hobby. In recent years, I've had a Ferrari, a few Porsches and currently got a Bentley. I was / am scared to touch any of these whereas, I love messing around with older cars, getting stuff off eBay and generally bringing slightly tired cars back to their former glory (sound like Mike Brewer!)
Suns out, off for a blast...!!!!
