Hi all
Considering changing to a C63 AMG. I commute by train during the week so I only need something fun for the weekend and I love the sound of the c63. I will be purchasing from a main dealer.
What's more popular for resale, a Saloon or Coupe?
I see a lot of facelift C63's come with 18" twin spokes. Are these more popular compared to the 19" multispokes?
I've read that the facelift C63's come with better interior but is there any reason to not consider a pre facelift C63?
Thanks
As above, although some Coupes do seem to be advertised for slightly more money than the Saloons, all relative come resale though.
30K should easily see you in a Face Lift car and as posted in another thread, I have had both. And while the interior and gearbox are better in the FL, I wouldn't let that put me of buying a PreFL if, for my budget it was in overall in better condition and had less miles/owners ect, especially if it was a Performance Pack car.. £33-35k seems to be the sweet spot to get a good condition, high spec, low mileage car at the moment.
18s were standard and 19s were an option, the 18s do give a slightly better ride but the 19s suit the car better.
Another must have is the LSD, but quite rare! HK and reversing camera is also nice to have.
There is a lot of TAT out there now, so be careful…

I went for a FL because I think the 7-spd gearbox is a significant improvement over the original's. I don't see a big difference in desirability between the Saloon or Coupe because they share the same important stuff. I went for a Saloon (from new) because to my eyes, it looks a bit more masculine, well proportioned and I guess just better. Lots of people will disagree and thats fine.
I had the 19" multi-spoke wheels on mine which I opted for because I think the car looks really good with them on. The 18" wheels are a little bit too small IMO. I don't care about the tiny difference in ride quality because its a sports car first and foremost, if I cared about ride quality I'd be looking at a diesel S-class.

Thanks all. Overall I think I prefer the Saloon over the Coupe, I just thought the coupe in black with black multispoke 19's with a silver rim looked pretty smart.
You mentioned a lot of tat. Have these now become a price range for boy racers to buy drive? How does this compare to say a BMW M3, the e9x

Cheap, early C63s have become a thing for the guys coming out of VXRs, FRS's etc. That comes with its own problems. Such as, making it very hard for good cars to justify the value. Also, most aspiring owners know nothing of the car / options other than it's got a "6.3 in it, innit" so advertising spec is often lost on the audience. Bottom price is king. Somebody above said to buy from MB. Because the cars are better?
MB buy most of their used stock from the same customers other dealers do, and for the same reasons..... part ex. Before I bought my 2nd C63 I viewed another at a main dealer down south. It came with 2 years warranty etc and was a good price. Spec was very minimal but it was supposedly a good car. The example had just arrived and was due to be prepped for sale later that week. In the hurried pics sent by the dealer it looked ok.
I agreed to see the car but on first sight immediately spotted a moody Black Series badge on the boot. There's no way that car came from good stock. Had I viewed it a week later I'd not have seen it in its full glory and I may have bought a main dealer dog.
There are good cars out there if you are looking in the right areas. This forum is a good place to start. Owners are on the side of being more normal / more enthusiast than Barry boy and can talk you through the history and what's important. There are cars in the PH classifieds with Pistonheads user names attached so you can cut a lot of the rubbish out from the off. My own 62 plate PPP is also for sale at your price point..... just sayin
