A change of career - late 20's

Hi all.

Currently fix trucks, and have always 'fixed something' for my working life.
I don't know what, but I am considering a career change.
I've actually applied for an apprenticeship position at Williams, but not heard anything back yet.
I have got no A level or above education; 11 GCSE's, all C or above, and NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering.
It's about as vague a question as you're likely to read on PH this year, but what sort of careers should I consider looking into?
I love classic cars, old things, history, Victorian, steam, aeroplanes, motorbikes, animals, etc etc
I'm at HP14.

As you don't say where you are in the county, this is more speculative than I'd hoped, but are there any transport museums (whatever discipline) near you? e.g Duxford / York - anywhere the Bargista might meet!

I Imagine ( I drive a computer for a living) that the varied machinery & ongoing maintenance would be the same, but different -IFSWIM?

I'm at HP14, as above.
The dream is to work on steam/heritage railways but I've never looked into it to much as I think it's mainly voluntary work, so something for the future.
I just feel like I'm missing a raison d'être, a passion.
That, and I'm surrounded by idiocy and mediocrity in an HGV garage, and it's just dragging me down.

Could you change to fixing aeroplanes? If you joined the RAF that would be interesting! Or you could go for boats; either big commercial ships or super yachts.

I have looked into the RAF, as my wife is in the RAF. I have put it off up to now as the reason I left the Army in the first place was because we weren't seeing enough of each other.
So I have a feeling it'd go the same way.
Aircraft engineering is something i'd be very interested in though as them boys set the bar high. There's no pissing around or bodging stuff, it's all proper engineering and very interesting.
