Sonos Play:5 with Pega Planar 1
Discussion
I have a Sonos Play:5 (along with a Play:1) to which I have connected a Rega Planar 1 turntable. The turntable is connected to the Play:5 with a pre-amp. I was surprised by the 'less than great' sound quality when playing vinyl.
How much impact will the pre-amp have on the quality of the sound? The one I have wasn't particularly expensive, around £25.
Are there any settings I need to change/ adjust in the Sonos App to improve the sound?
I only have access to one of my vinyl records at the moment (Oasis - What's the Story Morning Glory). Is it just the perhaps less produced quality of the vinyl?

the preamp should do the work to bring the turntable to line out level, is your preamp for the right kind of cartridge you have? How much impact will the pre-amp have on the quality of the sound? The one I have wasn't particularly expensive, around £25.

Rega have their own pre amp that I recently bought with their Planar 1. Connected it to a naim muso that I had spare and set it up in a friend's house. I was genuinely surprised by how good it sounded. All I had connecting them was a rca to headphone lead.
Worth spending the £85 on perhaps?
