Hi,

Just wondered if anyone can identify these items that my sister keeps finding in her garden in the same spot. She thinks they are being fired from an air rifle by her next door neighbour.
He does have a target set up at the bottom of his garden.

When she described them I thought of ballistic bolts but now I have seen the picture I know they are not.

They are made totally of green plastic, no metal parts and are about 1½" long. Piece of paper they are on is A4 for scale.

I personally don't think they are air gun ammo and are possibly from some garden equipment.

Sorry about the pictures, I did not take them.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't know about airgun ammo. But they look a little like fletches.

But I cannot confirm this.

Just an FYI, you can get battery surveillance cameras for £15-20 on ebay. Might be worth setting on up and see what's happening. If it is from shooting, then report to your local Firearms officer.

Mr airgun might well be firing golf tees with the cup cut off.

The ones used in custom shotgun shells are metal. But there may be other kinds or adaptations. Not saying it is these, but the shape of the none destroyed ones in the ops pics seem very similar visually.

And while you wouldn't shoot them from a rifled barrel, it's probably possible to shoot from a smooth bore gun of some kind.

If it were flechettes fired from a shotgun, your sister would know surely? Shotguns are not quiet things, and if someone is blasting away with a shotgun in their back garden then I would have thought the whole street would notice.

Why doesnt she pop next door and ask.

Doesn't have to be from a shotgun.

You could with a regular break barrel airgun, load a pellet like normal, then drop something like one of these down the barrel and fire away.

If hes not firing fletches or golf tees, could the neighbour be using the tees as targets?

Thanks for the info.

Not a shotgun but she has heard him using an air rifle.

She can't really go and ask as he's not the sort of person you can talk to in a civil manner.

As for reporting him to the firearms officer, the chap is well known to the police.
He's been arrested many times.

They just seem to release him next day.

Just made me think that he could be, or using them to support a target.

I thought surely you would not have dark green golf tees as they would be hard to find but I've looked online and they do indeed have dark green ones.

They might at least seize his air rifle.

That escalated quickly smile
They are the remains of the plastic coating on the tines fallen off an old rake. I bet they are really light thin plastic and have blobs on the ends from the dipping.

Fantastic lurking and I think you might be correct. A lightweight plastic projectile would go a few feet at best if fired from an air rifle.
