I bought myself an Alfa GTV V6 last July, it has loads of choice upgrades done by the previous owner and i have spent some £ refreshing various suspension bushes etc.

To date i have done about 1400 miles in it so it is very much a weekend and dry weather car. Condition is great - perhaps a front respray at some point to get rid of a few stone chips but that aside it wants for very little.

Nice weather has arrived and i have seen a 3.0 BMW Z4 with a great spec and I am thinking do i change - the Z4 is more common but is a great shape to my eye and you can drop the roof.

Arguably the Alfa has the best noise and it is an occasion when driving it, i just love the look of this Z4 i have seen.

Many say that the Alfa will appreciate but this is always negligible when factoring in various maintenance / running costs.

Am i daft to consider changing?

I'd keep the Alfa it were me - although I may be biased as an Alfa owner myself. As you said, Alfa has a better noise which makes driving it an occasion. Couple that with the fact it's more exclusive than the Z4.

Looking it at objectively, I'd say it's better the devil you know when it comes to cars of this age. You've already sunk money into the Alfa and you know that it's sorted, whereas there might be something lurking under the surface of the Z4.

Considering I own 2 Alfas that's where my vote would go.

But it depends on what you want from a car. Although the Z4 is an attractive car I just don't think it stands. Plus it doesn't sound as good.

If it's the "occasion" you want from the car, stick to the Alfa.
