Speed 6 Cerbera refurb blog
Discussion
Hi All, I hope this doesn't break any forum rules but I've started a blog on Facebook covering the refurb of my Cerb
It's a good solid car in need of attention before things get too bad. I had the last two weeks off work and so far have pulled the engine and 'box.
It will be getting a head gasket (at least), various engine bits and bobs (new pipes, throttle body bearings etc), chassis refurb, gearbox rebuild and some interior work too.
As much as possible I do the work myself.

I didn't think you liked the bearing solution ...Look out for that false brinneling on the bearings

Roller bearings are okay but bearing seals are not designed to withstand engine vacuum. Over time the grease will be pulled out.
I don't know the extent of the machining you do but if the holes are off-round, just installing a bearing at the end still leaves a potential leak path past the spool (from top to bottom, not from outside).
I will be fitting oilite bushes aka plain hearings. The holes will be through-bored then bushes pressed though and turned back to conform to the throat.
Well, that's the plan anyway...
