We've just moved on a short term basis into a rented flat which has NTL cable, rather than Sky which we are used to. Everything on Sky is nicely grouped together e.g news, music channels, sports etc, whereas the channels on NTL are all mixed up in no logical order.

Does anyone know if it possible to sort the channels? Unless I have missed something on the menus it doesn't look possible. They can be grouped as "favourites" but this is not really the answer.

On our NTL you can select the browse button - then it lets you choose 'sport' or 'news' etc...

And we can't get 3/4 of the channels that NTL say we should. So guess who's not supplying the TV at our new house?

When we moved in (well, Mrs Puggit did 1st, then I soon followed ) ntl gave us sport and movies for free

Took them 9 months or so to fix it

Same on Telewest - you don't have to go to the entire channel list but can filter by type.

If you go to the setup menu on the NTL box there's a bit for setting up your favourite channels. These will become channels 1-whatever.

Shame the interface is crapola - if you've added 40 channels and then realise you want to add a new channel in position 20 you have to remove 20-40 and re-add them...

Having had NTL for the last 2 years I'd have Sky anyday - then I could get motors tv!

Exactly the reason we went back to SKY almost immediately, that and the CRAP so called customer service (read, non existent !!)

Nope, you can just move one up/down to the start/end etc now. I have just got a brand new box, but a few minutes customising your menu is worth it.

For me, NTL is a good deal. I get my TV channels, phone rental and 1MB broadband all for £44 a month.
