Looking at replacing my fuel pump on my 5.0 S/C engine..any reason why a 044 (genuine) pump wouldn't do the trick? If it's important the FP is 3.0 bar and the 440cc/min injectors are running at 80% duty cycle at max rpm.

Thanks..

As long as you're not using the standard fuel pump wiring to power it the only downsides I can think of are it will heat the fuel up a bit more than a smaller pump and draw some more current.

After taking similar advice i have just fitted one to my turbo 4.6.
I am running blue knight injectors, which are rated to 500 bhp i believe, as my car should make between 400 and 450 bhp (being mapped this week by Jools).

Upgraded the wiring to 17amp (and new!)
Still running the 15 amp fuse.
Pump quoted as 10-11 amps on the box IIRC.

You will need to fabricate a new mounting for it (I am told by the man who fitted mine), and can i suggest you put some rubber washers in the mounting as the 044 is significantly noisier than the TVR pump.

Make sure you get a genuine one - loads of copies around.

It's been an all winter process, Richard (which is probably why the weather is such excrement at the moment).
I started off just wanting to get the car running again, and took it from there. Didn't know whether I could complete it, so kept it to myself and my wallet.
Almost finished now, still no idea what power it will make. Jools should be telling me next week some time. Chassis refurbed, new 4.6 engine built, Whalley turbo fitted, Emerald currently being installed. Oh, and a new roof and paint job. A quick sort out has become a once and for all full monty. But it seems to be very driveable, which is what matters more than numbers.

I had the 044 pump , found i5 to be to much for the fuel system si purchased a bosch pump used on the Cerbera .

EL PUMP (4.2 CERB)
Bosch 0 580 254 957. 128 litres per hour at 5 bar. Abailable from http://www.fuelpumpsonline.co.uk/bosch-fuel-pump-0...
FUEL TANK BREATHER/ROLLOVER VALVE

Thanks Daz, love you too.....

It was a busy day, trying to meet up with loads of people while having the entire family wanting to do anything but what I wanted.

Car nearly finished - here's what the Full Dip, as I believe it is called, looks like. Nice lacquer finish, can be polished just like paint, but 25% of the cost.

Mat Smith, Eann Whalley, Alan Jones and Jools need to take all the credit. I just emptied the bank account and thought through what I wanted.

You already have the Emerald (other suitable ECUs are also available), so all you need is a nice low compression top hat lined RV8 engin.

Ideally with as little valve overlap as possible, cross bolted etc, standard heads. Compression ratio as close to 9 as you can get. Mine has normal 4.6 RR heads and an RR cam. Not a sniff of TVR anywhere. I did use my TVR inlet manifold, simply because it was in better condition than the RR one I had sourced off EBay. Shouldn't cost a huge amount. I sourced a block, pistons, crank, rods etc, heads, and already had the other bits. To get a block top hat lined costs £700-1000. Mine was already so lined.

Then if you don't know your way around a spanner you can get the turbo kit including intercooler and oil cooler sourced and fitted, including adjustable valves, for around £3,500-£3700. I went to Eann a Whalley, there are other sources.

Other things you might need are bigger injectors, which are not cheap, a Bosch 044 fuel pump, bracket, fittings and wiring, and a good mapping session. All of those I guess £1,000 to £1,500.

So I cannot give you a fixed price, nor even what mine cost, as I had other things in the mix. But if you already have the suitable engine, the other bits including spanner experts are about £5,000.

NA you can easily spend that much to get an extra 30-40 bhp, depending on where you are starting - law of diminishing returns. Turbo, you can add 100 bhp to that. Depends what you want from your car.
