Just been doing a bit of culling of the cookies and banning sites I don't want to set cookies and there are a fair few in there from PH aint there

May I ask why there is so many doing different things and just not one? I only ask because I know nothing about cookies and the like, not "OMG you've put xx cookies on my machine", PH is in my exception lists

Not too many. A couple to identify you, another to stop someone spoofing you by altering their cookies and the rest manage/limit delivery of the ads.

I have 20 sitting on my machine Most other sites get away with just the one or two hence my asking

My PC died a death yesterday and a few bits and bobs got wiped when I uninstalled/re-installed software, cookies were one of them

I do remember a few were for login, 4 for ph.tv, a couple for ph.co.uk (?) and the rest seemed random data, if I get them all back again I'll let you know.

I've got around 20 pistonheads.com cookies as well, using firefox.
Names are sid, topicOrder, lastSession, lastVisit, popup, sCode, memberId, loginName, showinfo and a whole load beginning ASPSESSIONID.....

That makes sense. The sensibly names ones are one's I've created and the others are system generated cookies that are created by the browser/server.

Ted, I had similar sort of names there, couldn't remember exactly, but that list looks very familiar...

I've only got sid though I only allow cookies from the originating site but shouldn't I have more?

I was looking under 'pist' on my cookies list but most of them are under 'www.pist'
