Car part theft

In the last few months I've had the following stolen from my cars:

An S4 badge (£36 to replace, no big deal)

An aerial (£28 to replace, bit of pain to get, but no big deal)

Attempted theft of Audi "Rings of Torture" badge (£18 to replace, since it broke as they tried to prise it off)

Then today, the entire front bumper and apron assembly from wife's BMW, the whole lot, in broad daylight, ripping out the fittings to air ducts etc. I'm starting to suspect it's a dodgy body shop at work using my cars as spare parts donors.

I hope Siverback Mike and his colleagues get to these people first, as my patience draws thin...

But I doubt they will. The sad litany of unsolved crime grows longer and longer.

Time to set up a surveillance system with some cams and a spare server.

I seem to remember that old Jag XJS bumpers (the chrome ones) are subject to the same problems. The advice was to put a blob of welding on the bolts that attach them, to make them much harder to remove. (Any bona fide removal would then have to be done with an angle grinder.)

Sorry to hear your problems. I know that my post probably doesn't help at all ... anyone see the pinching/CCTV/Passing copper(PCSO) ???

(OK, I was joking about the last option.)

One of the guys at work had the expansion tank stolen off his imprezza overnight a few months back. Luckily they left the bonnet open or he would have driven to work and possibly knackered the engine.

This is one reason why if I had a fast (new) car, I'd always have it debadged.

Razor blades behind the grill are a good deterent for badge thieves.

Or velcro them on and take them with you!

Fecking annoying or what?

A chap I used to work with opened his front door one day to see 3 blokes doing the same to his M3. He was "advised" by the largest of them to go back indoors and come back out once they'd left...

{edited to add:} This seems as good a time as any to enquire: Are you still looking to move house?

If it's got metal badges, howabout wiring them to the battery?

I had the rear parcel shelf including speakers nicked from my Astra GTE many years ago. Couldn't understand why the stereo was so quiet, so stop to look and found some er had nicked the whole parcel shelf including my Kenwood speakers

Happened to my first M3 - some bastards nicked the whole front splitter while the car was parked on the drive.

Turned out to be a local gang nicking stuff for a dodgy bodyshop in Birmingham.
