Towing 1500kg trailer
Discussion
No, you won't. You would've had to pass your test in 1996 or earlier to have that included.
You'll have to do a B+E test to gain that entitlement. I've done it, it's not difficult. Costs of instructors vary quite a bit area to area so I can't guide you too much on that. I think the test was £120 when I did it a few years ago

As I understand it, it is the total train weight, but you need to consider the MAM of the trailer, rather than its actual weight. So if the trailer has an MAM of 1600, and the mondeo has a boot full of kit and a passenger or two you will probably exceed the limit, even if the trailer is empty or lightly loaded. (Correct me if I'm wrong PH!)
Hence why I did my + E test, just to be sure. Think it was circa £200, which included a day's training. Not hard.

There is a thread running on this very subject where it is all explained in detail. I don't have it to hand but a search should find it.
Off the top of my head, if you don't have B+E, it's all based on MAM's, with a total limit of 3,500 kg.
If you do have B+E, it's based on actual weights.
