Powdercoating wishbones

I am fitting new shocks and ploybushes to my Chimaera, the upper wishbones have been replaced but the lower ones need re-finishing.

Has anyone re-powdercoated existing wishbones, do they fit back together fine afterwards with the bushes etc?

I can imagine they will but don't want to go to all the trouble to find the tolerances have changed??


Thanks in advance, oh by the way I will be fitting red Supaflex bushes when they go back together if that makes a difference?

Not done it on a TVR, but I've powder coated wishbones on other stuff.

You (or rather the powder coater)needs to mask off the holes where the bushes press in. Any decent poweder coating shop should have the sense to do this automatically, but it wouldn't do any harm to 'prompt' them by asking the question when you take the components in.

Thanks Martin, I did wonder about the apertures etc, I wasn't sure whether they were coated from factory or left bare?

I would advise using POR15 instead. You brush this on, so can avoid the bush holes, and it's much tougher than power coat. I used a metal club hammer to whack my wishbones back into postion, and hardly marked the paint, so a few stones ain't gonna hurt them. See bush removal thread in Griff forum for piccies.

Done mine in BMW smoked Chrome and they look fantastic. Had the polybushes put in after (together with Nitrons and Racelogic Traction control).

Will post some piccies if I work out how to.

Woulodn't have thought it would be corrosion resistant enough.
