Re Trimming with Leather
Discussion
I am considering ordering a 718 Cayman S or GTS but do not wish to select a Standard Interior Leather from the colours on offer .
My Dealer informs me that ' Colour to Sample ' From £ 2,588 inc. Vat for Porsche Leather would take between 12 and 24 months from the Factory in addition to the Delivery time from Order . ' Colour to Sample ' using non Porsche Leather Range would cost even more ... up to £ 10 K .
I would prefer a Creme ( Porsche Cayenne ) or Stone colour with Black upper dash etc and black seat inserts .
There are many Leather options on the Customer Configurator but none suit my ideal selection .
I cannot specify Black Leather + Sportex seat inserts without the dreaded Silver Stitching ( extremely tacky and not Porsche ... in my opinion )
nor can i specify Black Sportex seats in any other colour other than with Carbon ( Grey ) Leather .
There are options for contrast stitching in Black ... but not for Sportex seats or seats with contrast leather inserts .
Can anyone suggest an aftermarket Trimmer who could reproduce a perfect Porsche quality finish in leather for the Seats / Door cards etc ?
Your comments would be most welcome .

I'd wager you're OPC salesman is being rather lazy and not telling you the whole truth.
There's a whole world of "Porsche Exclusive" options which are not on the configurator but are available....sometimes referred to as CXX options. If you Google that and have a look on Rennlist there are pages of threads about it.
For example have a look at this 911 S that Porsche Silverstone have specced up...looks sodding fantastic with the houndstooth seats.

If you're near them maybe give them a shout as clearly they can be bothered ?!
You're salesman has to liaise with someone in Porsche Exclusive to find out what can and can't be ordered but some things can be horrendously expensive...it depends on how much extra work they have to do.
Oh and the cream and black leather in the Cayenne is great...we have it in ours. Quite a rare option but really lifts the interior.

Obsessive much........???
Dude!!!! Just buy yourself a car and enjoy driving it. Does it really matter what colour of leather your arse is sat on?
You do know there are children in this world starving tonight don't you....?
You miss the point I do believe. By obsessing obsessively he is indeed respecting the fact that there are indeed children starving around the world, he is indeed in a privilege position and one should enjoy to the full when one is in a position to choosing what spec to spec, being flippant casual and not really caring that's not really playing the game Dude!!!! Just buy yourself a car and enjoy driving it. Does it really matter what colour of leather your arse is sat on?

Give Linus at http://www.designls.co.uk a shout. He is well respected in the Porsche community and does a fantastic job. Check out his work on some of the 911uk threads. Pleased with the retrimmed centre console he did on my 997.

Thanks .... I will check him out ! Cheib is correct in that CXX options can generate a lot of customisation in the interior. The list isn't endless or even logical and OMG it's expensive! On my BGTS I changed bolster colour and added contrast stitching that wasn't otherwise available. They were quite prepared to do all that which is, let's face it, quite involved. What they wouldn't do was change the beige carpet for black (deviated carpet colour) because there was no CXX option on the GTS to cover it. If it had been an S or a base boxster that would have been no problem at all. Classic case of "computer says no"! I ended up getting the carpet changed in the UK after delivery. The biggest delay to the order was getting the Exclusive department to price stuff up (and then respond to my "what the f**k" to their prices). However the main point is I got the car I wanted, the way I wanted it......and no children starved as a consequence!

I have just been informed by my Dealer via. Porsche Uk that Leather ' Colour to Sample ' is not available to order for the Cayman ... only for the Boxster .
As these Models are made at different Factories in Germany ........... Cayman at Osnabrouck and Boxster at Zuffenhausen .
So it looks like ' aftermarket ' Trimming for me .

OP I'd honestly go and find a new OPC....sounds like they can't be bothered to work with you on getting the car you want. It's definitely more work for them as they have to liaise and chase things up etc.As these Models are made at different Factories in Germany ........... Real world experience of ordering a PTS Boxster....we ordered a PTS Boxster six weeks ago for Mrs Cheib. At time of ordering we didn't have a build date but OPC happily accepted the order with no definitve time for when we could get the car....was originally told it was likely to be August production but just had it confirmed that the car will be built in October. Admittedly Boxster's have a shorter lead time than Cayman's but it seems that the next PTS slot for 911's is also October as people who are getting a 991.2 GT3 slot have been told that is the PTS window this year.
It might be difficult to get a Cayman slot at this stage for October production if all the OPC's October build slots have been allocate but if your OPC submits the order at some stage it'll get allocated a PTS build slot by Porsche GB.
