Just seen this great shot posted which was taken last weekend at the airshow at Barksdale AFB, which saw the airshow debut of the recently restored B-29 'Doc'.

Formation of 3 x Boeing 'Fortresses'.....B17G Flying Fortress, B29 Superfortress and B-52H Stratofortress.

I still think the B17 is one of the most beautiful aircraft ever built smile

Have those three types of aircraft flown together before?

I believe this was a first as a staged flypast formation at a public event/airshow.

Any idea how fast they were going? I imagine it would have been quite slow by the B52's standards?

No idea, but looking at the smoke and amount of flap the BUFF has set, I'd imagine it was close to the limit of the 52's slow speed range, and the B17 was probably close to its practical max......

Along with a B-29 and B-52 which I imagine was the point being made that you can see all 3 in one building but not flying.

That B-29 is a thing of chrome and streamlined beauty.

It does look nice in its natural metal scheme - which was the normal scheme for most B-29s (and B-50s).

The other flying B-29, "Fifi" had for many years been painted in a grey scheme which didn't look as good.

It looks like she's more metallic looking now but not as shiny as "Doc" -

It must be a trick of perspective, that the B52 doesn't look much bigger than the B17 or B29 in the photo. It certainly does when you're standing under it in the AAM at Dux.
