I know this will split opinions but i have seen a re-cased watch I really quite like the look of.

Its the movement, dial and hands from an Aquastar Glassstar, a 70s GRP cased divers watch that is unrepairable if the case gets damaged. I think the cases are now quite prone to cracking due to the age.

Is it a good thing that someone has given the "good bits" a new lease of life or bad? I think the 70s style case looks quite good.

Its only £300 so not a load of money? Good buy for an unusual daily beater?

I've recased a few watches, Seiko 7s26 and ETA 2824 movements from watches with damaged cases. Buying tatty, cheap, watches and bringing them back to life is fine by me.

I like it! Love the era (cars as well as watches).

I have got a thing for those beautiful 70s hooded cases and that one looks really great.

I love the idea of re-casing something, particularly if you could have some input into the case design.

This would be a far more interesting story than some twicer droning on about drilled lugs or red ink instead of white on the dial.
