Worrying met police request for details over alleged failure to stop at accident. they have my registration number, but my car was parked at home and I was 100 miles away at work.
Have replied to that effect on the form but its worrying. Anyone else had a similar experience that can shed light on what happens next. ?

Could be a mistaken registration. I 'had' a speeding ticket for the M6 in Birmingham with my reg.

I was in Lincolnshire with my car and my Mum as it was Mother's day at the time of the offence.

I rang them to tell them that and to send me the photo. They then refused as as I had told them it was not me driving my alleged car they couldn't release the photo to me because of data protection ! !

If you weren't there you weren't there I wouldn't be overly concerned.

My sister got a summons from Devon and Cornwall police .
60+ in a 40 limit .
Her reg number .
She lives in Bucks and at that time had never been to Devon or Cornwall.
After her reply to that effect it turned out to be a cloned plate but a totally different type and colour of car .

I had similar. One of my work vehicles was mistakenly said to have been involved in an accident and fleeing the scene. In Staines. We have no business there and vehicle was being used elsewhere. I had to go to court to prove it because the fking useless courts and police pursued it. I won and got my costs but what a fking waste of everyone's time. Disgusting that they pursue you in the hope you just eventually give in and submit to the punishment. All because the police officer who took the complaint had handwriting so st that it was read as ADO (my vehicles last three letters) and not ADD (the vehicle in the accident) despite the person who was hit insisting it was ADD all along...

fking clowns.

I was once informed that my car had knocked the wing mirror off a Ford Transit somewhere in Kent. It was at home with me in Essex at the time. I replied that as the car was a Caterham 7 it would have had to have been flying about two feet off the ground for it get that high. Nothing more heard.

Yeah, ironic huh. Didn't see the joke at the the though. Was a pain in the arse. The driver of the vehicle that was hit gave a description of the driver that fled the scene which was nothing like the 3 people who used my vehicle. Police took no notice and went ahead anyway.

Berks. And I mean that in the rhyming slang way... Berkley Hunt...
