Unmarked Police Motorcycle on M40

On the M40 last week just west of the M25 I spotted an unmarked BMW 1200 GS motorcycle (complete with panniers) stationary on the hard shoulder, behind a car. I only noticed it because I have a similar bike, but I then saw that the bike was fitted with discreet flashing blue lights, which were switched on, and the motorist had been pulled.

Has anyone else seen this? I know that TVP out of Bicester operate at least one unmarked silver Volvo, although I believe they don't go much further east than High Wycombe.

I'm sure I saw a similar thread somewhere recently, and the conclusion seemed to be it was easier for them to spot drivers using a handheld mobile.

Yes - all the time.
Claim to fame - the bike I have now is an ex TVP 'unmarked' bike.

Is it a 1200 GS or some other type? An ex-police unmarked K1300S turned up in a local auction a while back..
