Hi, I'm looking at buying a first car which would be used socially and to and from work on a daily basis, I'm only an apprentice so running off a very low wage and have set myself a budget of £1500.

autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201705075197804 I was just wondering if anybody thinks this would be worth purchasing, or recommends this car itself, thanks👍🏻

No.

Firstly the seller is stating - "COMPANY POLICY ALL VEHICLES IN THIS AGE/MILEAGE RANGE SOLD SPARES/REPAIRS ONLY". This is an attempt to circumvent your rights as a consumer and a very strong indication if there are faults they will NOT stand over them.

Very significant rust bottom of drivers door which will need addressing. This is not a common fault, so suggests an underlying problem / poor repair.

The MOT history doesn't show anything major, but doesn't exactly shout that it's been loved and maintained.

There's plenty of C107gos about - Autotrader has another ten that price or cheaper within 25 miles of that dealer (I'd not bother with the lone diesel). Frankly, they all look better.

£1500 is plenty for a first car. Can I ask what other cars you've considered?

I would avoid, alarm bells all over.

- its french
- a dealer who writes in all caps
- all the rust on the door

most importantly
- a dealer who wants to sell it as spares/repairs and try avoid the consuer buyer protection that comes with purchasing from a trader.

as others have also said, go japanese. buy toyota, honda, nissan or suzuki. A civic, jazz, corolla, yaris, auris, micra, alto, ignis, swift are all more reliable options. It might also be worth browsing various car sites for advice/info/tips on how to buy a used car. site such as auto trader, AE, carbuyer, and WHICH?

It's Czech actually, but it still doesn't look very good. The bumpers seem to be a slightly different shade of red to the rest of the car too.

That it's a French badge on a Czech-built, largely Toyota-developed car, with a Daihatsu engine...?

Thanks for the replies everybody, appreciate it as I'll be the first to admit I know next to nothing but I'll definitely stay well away from this car!
