Has anybody gone self employed with shiply?
Discussion
Has anybody ever started doing delivers for shiply, it seems it you have van you can register and start accepting jobs, i am just wondering if its worthwhile? I don't expect the earnings to be great but i am out of work at the moment got plenty of savings to keep me going but fancy doing something in my spare time to earn a few quid and work in my own time etc
Really low rates, overrun with cowboys doing stuff for peanuts, but a million east European self employed guys can't be wrong!
Check what your goods in transit & road risks insurance will be, you might be shocked.
We don't do general haulage, but cars & some boats, & use very very occasionally the bid sites for an empty leg on a long haul, but the rates on offer are often so low it's not worth the grief & just run empty instead.

As Iguana has mentioned, you will frequently be competing against people who have done one paid run to destination A and are then collecting a paid job from A to return to their home base destination B. So they have an advantage over you on pricing.
If you can organise yourself enough to price and win jobs with return loads you will have the chance of earning money otherwise you will likely be working at a loss
