MRI terminology

Can anyone tell me what the below means:

"MRI of his prostate was shown to be diffusely oedematous with low signal peripheral zone of the the prostate."

No.

You need to discuss the interpretation of the scan with a urologist.

MRIs don't give answers, they make data and pictures which need interpretation.

Low signal just means it's dark/black on MRI. That in itself is completely meaningless.

Prostate MRI is hideously complicated for such a small thing so yeah, you need a specialist to decipher it for you, along with any other tests you've had done.

It means that you have fluid in your prostate. However without any context nobody can say why. The specialist has the context and can comment.
