Hi all
Up
Took the wedge out of its semi hibernation for its MOT and PASSED
Down
Not without a couple of advisories:-
1 Tiny amount of play on track rod end (no biggie)
2 exhaust manifolds are on last legs - rust pinholes in section just before it joins the middle box - metal too thin to repair ( best I start saving for some of the very expensive stainless ones from act - unless someone's got some replacements going begging??)
3 rear tyres getting near limit on inside edges ( due to too much camber - ill do a separate post on this )
Up
Had a good blat home enjoying the noise and arrived home with a big smile smile
Down
Went back out to car an hour later and couldn't start it - the pinion is sticking on the starter motor not enough to fully engage the flywheel to start it but enough to make a horrible sound once I bumped it and got the engine running

All part of wedge ownership I guess

MOT also highlighted my dwindling milage
3000 miles up to may 2015
1700 miles upto may 2016
Barely 1000 miles last year
Need to start using it more or I might have to sell it on to someone who'll use it properly
Cars are for driving not to be left sitting in garages

Congratulations on the MOT. My 350i passed last week and I was 200 miles off my 3000 insurance limit. Been for a blast in the 390SE this afternoon and all good.

Hi all
Yes definitely need to make more of an effort to get out more. Think part of the problem is that I have had the use of a garage about 1/4 mile from home for the last 8-9 months - great for keeping the weather off but it means much more of an effort to get out and about than when it was on the drive, its a bit out of sight out of mind .

Probably the starter solenoid gunked up (technical term, unless there's a teenager handy who can give you a more in-depth explanation) whistle
