Hi There,

Seen this stat in a couple of places that there are under 100 RHD manual GTS coupes in the UK (RWD cars) produced in the UK. Is this really true? If so this would make it a pretty rare beast!

Seem to recall its more like 200-300, the way to check is go on DVLA website "VEH0160" and look at cars that don't have GTS S-A for 2010/11/12 for cars registered new in the UK

howmanyleft has the numbers....it's about 100 manual 997 GTS's with most being RWD's.

https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/?utf8=%E2%9C%93&...

Although that doesn't split out soft top's like it does for some models so it might be even less than that.

They certainly don't come up for sale that often and when they do they sell quickly if priced properly.

I love mine....missed out on one about 18 months ago and then mine came up for sale at an OPC a couple of months later and put a deposit down before I'd seen it.

Thanks. Didn't even know a targa 4 GTS existed!

Numbers really dominated by the pdk box.

If I'm reading that right it looks like there are only 47 rwd 991 gts manuals and that's both cab and coupe

Yup...I think the rule of thumb is that 10% of 991's were manual's across the range

Rare they might be but JZM have just taken two into stock according to their twitter feed.

Posted this previously (not sure where...) but the manual 997.2 4WD has to be one of the rarest Porsche's out there with just 19 registered in the UK...

997.2 GTS 4WD MANUAL - 19 CARS
997.2 GTS 4WD PDK - 239 CARS
997.2 GTS 2WD MANUAL - 95 CARS
997.2 GTS 2WD PDK - 355 CARS

Amazing the premium the Manual gearbox now demands over the PDK (which was a £££ option on the car when new) and just now Hexagon have 2 x manual cars just listed and JZM have 1 listed and another to follow. The Hexagon manual cars are approx. £10k more than their PDK stock!
Hexagon Manual GTS 2WD in RED 13,700 miles @ £84,995
https://hexagonclassics.com/cars/porsche-911-997-c...
Hexagon Manual GTS 2WD in WHITE 26,400 miles @ £79,995
https://hexagonclassics.com/cars/porsche-911-997-c...
JZM Manual GTS 2WD in SILVER 28,488 miles @ £71,900
http://www.jzmporsche.com/used-vehicle-details/Por...
JZM Manual GTS 2WD in WHITE 46,537 miles @ £66,900 (sharp money for a manual car with carbon buckets BUT slightly higher mileage and owners...)
http://www.jzmporsche.com/used-vehicle-details/Por...

Hexagon now have 11 x 997.2 GTS in various editions in stock!!!

Lets see how much demand there really is for these 997.2 GTS Manuals......

Slightly off topic. But not by much. How many 991.1 RWD manual coupes?

Quite something for JZM to sell both cars so quickly....market is up £15k in the last year I reckon.

It's starting to look "fully priced" if you think in that time Boxster Spyder's and GT4's haven't really moved in price ...and if anything 991.1 GTS's have come off a little bit because the new one is out and there's quite a few on the market.

So from the dizzy heights of the recent Hexagon manual cars listed grab yourself a bargain 997.2 GTS 2WD Manual @ just £49,995! Plus it has the sports chassis & LSD!

http://www.911virgin.com/porscheforsale/711/997GTS...

If you're planning on using it don't let the mileage put you off @ 78,000 and being a 911V car you can be assured it will be right, Tom doesn't sell rubbish.

i had one of the 19 4WD manuals a couple of years ago. Didn't realise it was so rare.
I ran around in all weathers, on winter tyres, and then traded it in when the sun came out.

I've got a white one with slightly lower miles (24k) and higher spec than the Hexagon car. Might be time to cash in though - in the last year as values have started to rise its pretty much sat on the drive and done about 2k miles. That's the nub of the "add the miles reduce the value" conundrum. I love the car, best thing I've ever owned, but really stumped as to what to do. As I pulled into the golf club today in my Phaeton (now that IS a superb mile muncher!) a pal I hadn't seen for a while said "so where's the proper car"? I had to confess, to which he said "We'll what's the point of having it, you don't need the money, get driving it". That's the dilemma - just drive it, sell and move to a GT4 or 997.2 GT3 (and have the same dilemma?) or sell and take the view the market is crazy and prices are due a correction, so wait to get into a 997.2 GT3 when prices fall?

Anyone on here sold through Hexagon? Do they do SOR or buy outright? What kind of margin are they looking for? (Which I guess is a way of asking what I might realistically expect to get for mine.....)

Should really take it out for a blast tomorrow - after which I suspect it'll be back as a long term keeper!!

Thoughts appreciated!

I'm scared by SOR horror stories where the dealer can sell the car and keep the money. Be aware loop holes exist and you as the original owner are not protected.

If I might say, having a car and not using it for fear of clocking miles and thereby depreciation is a bit mad. There is no utility in a car if you don't drive it. Granted, they are nice to look at - I'll admit to being briefly diverted from pulling a mountain bike out of the garage by the sight of mine on numerous occasions - but the real value of such a car is the experiences it facilitates.

No one really knows where prices are headed, they do look bubbly and frothy, but then you simply cannot buy a car that drives like a 997, let alone a 996, 993, 964 etc. etc. now. In a great many ways, as accomplished (and therein is a part of the issue) as contemporary cars are, they have lost so much connection and involvement. So maybe old stuff will stay silly or get even sillier, who knows? But having a great motor and wrapping it up in cotton wool as an investment is sad.

For the ultra wealthy, then a real collection of 'investment' cars is not so daft, but we're talking of a rarefied few who can afford to keep and store the best of the best. The are, in many ways, just one more asset in a huge and highly diversified portfolio. But I've met people with £100k - £200k motors who've really scraped cash together to buy then and don't drive them because they're part of their savings, which I think is sad and risky in equal measure.

The overhead costs of keeping any car - tax, insurance, MOT, servicing - even if it does no mileage are not inconsiderable, and yet people who are otherwise shrewd and calculating in business and with their personal finances seem to turn a blind eye to them. Coincidentally, I had my car MOT'd last weekend at my village garage, owned by an old school mate and the mechanic and I were yarning on the same subject; there are two Aston Martins that unless you knew the owners and spoke to them, you;d never know were in the area, one has done 2k miles this year (about ten times more than it did in any of the last 2 or 3 years) and the other does 8 miles a year, to and from the MOT station.
