Peugeot 106 xsi1.4 8v original engine box. not a 16v build!

After owning 106s from the legal age of driving done 16v conversions, had bike carb'd, 1.6 8v and 16v but my first was a 92 1.4 xsi , around the age of 29 i decided it was time to move on.













I got an mr2 roadster, engine blew after first month, replaced engine, more and more failures.





So got a volvo c30 D5. This is an awesome car, i commute around 100 miles a day and this does it with power and comfort.

Even tho i kept the mr2 roadster to create a more long term project out of. I needed another 106.....

And here she is! Came from Aberdeenshire to Oxford, delivered same day

So after reading on the previous mot's about rust....it was time to investigate!

Standardish original engine and box


Green cotton replacement filter....new oil and oil filter...new tyres few other bits

Amazing, a serial XSI owner! I see you are in Oxford like me so will keep an eye out for this once it's back on the road. It looks great in grey. I had a cherry red 1.4 xsi, love them, whilst the unassisted steering was a bit of a chore in the car park, when out on a twisty A road I remember they had a beautiful balance to them. And the noise of the 8v, would love to see one again. Is this one staying standard?

One thing I'd say is, don't bother with kurust. It's rubbish.

Use bilt-hamber rust eating products which do as they say they do. (And I'm not connected to that company, just have very good experience of using the stuff)

Ive had every colour apart from a Black and cherry one....Might be a little while as going for the full job.
Rebuild the gearbox and engine get everything as it should be.

The electric mirrors don't work and the temp gauge etc.... Engine stand arriving mon/tues....then i can start on the block too.


Be good to get a little S1 group going in Oxford.

Really thats a bit disappointing, was only a temporary measure until a welder arrives!

Awesome, have a real soft spot for the 106, had on as my first car (mine was a 1.1 and I remember lusting after the 1.4 XSi )

Another vote for Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80 for dealing with rust. I used it on my 205 GTi and it was superb.
