I'm 37 so am probably too young to remember these the first time round but it must have been repeats I was watching when I was 9 or 10 years old. Just rediscovered them on youtube. Some great viewing if you have 25 minutes to spare. Brilliant little forewards by Roald Dahl and some great actors.

Anyone else have a love of these little tales? Also, what's your favourite. Currently it's The Best of Everything.

They are great, many based in the tales from his book 'kiss kiss'.

Yes definitely, i've read the books and watched the series, Roald Dahl was an excellent story teller. Hitchiker was one of my favourites along with the one where some guy moved in somewhere with a lot of stuffed animals.
I'll never forget the starting sequence and music.

My favourite was the one where the guy in the prison befriended the funeral director and agreed to stick him in a coffin to help him escape. Then when he had been buried realised he was buried next to the funeral guy!

For a while they have been showing a couple of episodes daily during the week on Sky Arts at 12.30pm in case you are not aware.
Just checked and on also at weekends.

Enjoyed them all but the one that still sticks in my head was the police eating the murder weapon.

I used to watch them all around 1980, they were on every Saturday night. Loved them.

Always been a fan from when I was little. Scared the bejesus out of me, but pretty laughable in parts now.

One or two episodes are pretty taboo and with good reason, could never be aired today.

Seen them all but the royal jelly one gave me nightmares for years.

Used to love watching these programmes. Particularly liked the Roald Dahl introductions.

Timothy West I believe
Ends with him making buzzing noises

Another show worth a look is Brian Clemens Thriller from earlier in the 70s. The White Rolls Royce story think its called One Careful Owner is very good

The ones I remember - the guy with the tattoo on his back by the famous artist, and the one with a guy going around scamming antiques on the cheap who finds a fantastic bit of furniture and ends up with helpful people giving him a pile of firewood.

Was there one about someone who could hear roses screaming when they were cut or did I dream that as a child!

Me too. Can't remember much of the rest. One unkind critic referred to the programme as "Tales of the Bleedin' Obvious".
