Getting rid of a mezzanine

I have recently completed the purchase of a unit which has a mezzanine (approx 850 sqft). I need this gone, sooner rather than later.

Are there companies that will buy it and take it away (he asks hopefully!)? If not should I put it on eBay 99p start and buyer collects?

Is it a leasehold or a freehold?

I only ask because I know of one company that found to their cost that making a major alteration to a warehouse could prove very costly from a "dilapidations" point of view.

Thanks for the reply Eric - it was a freehold purchase so I'm free to do as I wish. I've already filled a 12 yard skip in the last two days with unwanted internal structures!

My old boss purchased such a floor, he paid circa £3k and paid his own builder to remove and then install in his warehouse.

It saved him about £10k

Worth looking at the rating assessment if you have taken a mezzanine out, assuming its valued in the first place of course!

Thought I would update this thread. Sadly it wasn't suitable for Brimble so we were unable to help a fellow PHr out. I tried calling the numbers on the many "Mezzanine Wanted" adverts on eBay but nobody got back to me.

In the end we photographed it before we took it down and listed it on eBay with a detailed description of what was included. We put it up with a buy-it-now price of £1,000 and sold it for £950. The buyer picked it up a couple of days later which was a result.
