Lovely car, thank you for posting. Adore my 172 Cup, they really are the last of the affordable, big N/A engine small hot hatch's. Spoilt for choice at the moment, there are minters, high mileage, low mileage, sheds all in decent numbers so there really is something for everyone.

They seem to have a love them or hate them thing going on here on Pistonheads. Some just can't get on with the driving position and french build. I'm a fan, never owned a car so ready for track days for the money. I'd struggle to get £1500 for mine, yet there's nothing I saw urgently needed doing before I hit the track, chassis, brakes, engine etc.

The previous owner had fitted some KTek engine mounts, maybe fitted incorrectly but they were just awful. Rattled the dash at a certain RPM. Went back to standard, soft but do the job.

If anyone ever fitted a K20 from a civic into one, I'd bite their arm off for a drive.

Really wish i got myself one of these a few years ago, quite a lot of people on the area had them though and always went for an ep3 when i wanted a hot hatch as i'm over 6 foot tall! Hope the rest of your ownership is fairly trouble free!

Love these, well done. An ex girlfriend bought one new to replace an Elise , I test drove all the contenders and these were the best by miles. Enjoy.

The driving position is a big one imo - I'm 5:10 with about normal dimensions and I can only just get comfy, and the steering wheel is still at the wrong angle+reach.

Great cars though, out of the box they're an absolutely sensational setup, I can see exactly why they were so popular.

Had my 172 Cup for over 7yrs, run alongside my 996 & I love it!

Bought it to hillclimb with, despite lacking in power it did Ok on the hills & even though I've not competed for last 2yrs I still use it as my daily.

Has been pretty reliable but I only do 2-2.5k mls pa, if it were a Ford rather than a Renault they would be A. More popular and B. Climbing in value right now.

Admittedly the driving position is not perfect but that can be improved by lowering (and possibly replacing) the seat I'm told?

Lovely car, brilliant colour too!

I think I'll be buying one of these in the coming months to replace my MK4 Golf TDI, especially now my miles have been significantly reduced. I can't wait.

This has to be one of the best cars I have owned.

OK, mine was a 172 masquerading as a 182 FF but what a setup! Out of the box they are spot on! They are probably the closest modern car I have driven to a 205 GTi but with a few more creature comforts that don't tend to dull the fun. For the money they are superb.

As more and more go I reckon these will be a future classic to keep an eye on. For a daily they make alot of sense.

Can you tell that I miss mine a little? Anyway, enjoy .

Had a black 182 a few years ago. Goodlooking little cars and very chuckable. Saw a blue one a few days ago that was very quick off the mark and may have been turboed.

Easy to sort out though as you say.

Nice to see a fellow newcomer to the RenaultSport world enjoying the experience. They really are cracking cars. Have owned a 172 Cup since December and cannot get enough of it; it's a true do-everything car. Today it's taking waste to the tip, transporting my mountain bike to the bike park, and being hooned the entire way there and back. Perfect!

Loving the colour combo by the way. I have something similar.

I had one a few months ago and stupidly sold it. I miss the little thing. Yeah it may have had its little quirks but on a decent road it felt really good.

We took a little trip up to the North West of Scotland to do the NC500 and it was amazing with all three cars causing no bother. Mines was the black one and my brothers had the other ones for the trip.

Mine has been track prepared to a point it'll probably never be a daily again, but it doesn't half make me smile.
On the track rod inners / outers, what an arse of a job on these eh.

They are cracking little cars. I had a 182 FF.

Got rid of mine as the timing belt and dephaser were coming up for renewal, and I fancied a change.

Had the usual problems. Melted steering wheel, rear shocks needed replacing.

Also, Renualt never did seem able to get the colour to match on those plastic front wings.

I had one a couple of years ago, had been stripped out and messed with. Cracking little car to drive but just did not gel with it. Collecting another on Sunday, a 182 FF with 62k on the clock, belts done 6k ago and in Black Gold. This is an unmessed with car other than a Milltek so hoping I can bond with this one
