There was a good one by them a few years back - they had invented some coating for windscreens that meant flies and other bugs bounced back off it, keeping it smear free. From memory I think Clarkson fell for it and menitoned it in an article

not Clarkson, but Clarke, Arthur C., came up with a similar idea in one of his sci-fi books - transducers at the edge of the screen set up ultrasonic waves in the glass which vibrated any bugs off. Worked for rain too.
