Hey all. Newbie to the forum.
Need the advice of the masses. Currently driving a golf mk5 gti and it's ok but wanting to move on. Dream car is a Nissan s14 200sx drift/show spec. But that's not really possible as a Dailey driver so aim to get one for the weekend one day.
Really like the look of the e92 BMW as coupes are just the best car type in my views. But was looking at the 325d. Good power with a map. Good mpg. Tax nice 6 pot.
Problem lies in that I do about 6000 miles a year at my currently job, looking to change so could increase but nothing at the moment. 5 miles to and 5 miles back from work a day then some longer drives on the weekend if needed. Will I suffer with the dpf problems and is it worth it as I don't like the 6 pot petrols as they are n/a without much benefits compared to what I drive now.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in adavance!

Get the nissan silvia and enjoy. Any cheap/reliable daily will do your commute. Or a bicycle.

That's always been an option haha! I did have the golf lowered with more mods and hates using it as a Dailey and don't want to do that to the Nissan as it will be show/drift will be slammed. No rear seats. Loud. I'm getting old already but only 23 so not old enough to be able to afford 2 cars 😂

Why the crap do you want a diesel to do a 12 mile commute?
I do a 100 mile commute in a golf R and it's fine, I think you're right with a decent coupe get a 330i and enjoy that or a 320i save for the Silvia

See that's where you went wrong. You ruined your daily. Anyway, an s13/s14 etc can be reliable if you know what you're looking for. You could literally do your 12 mile commute on a car that costs peanuts to buy and run. You'll be surprised how cheap it can be to own 2 cars.

That is true. It's insurance that's the killer. And plan to turn my commute to a bit more as want a job change

This is a simple one buy the S14 tune it to the way you want & buy one of these as a run about:

Running two cars isn't a hardship most insurance companies can do a policy to cover both for not to much money, but as you want the S14 to be a show car having a beater makes sense.
