Handing over my car

Morning all. I would appreciate some advice on handing over my car which I have sold to a dealer through Tootle. The dealer has said he will pick up the car from my house and will transfer the dosh to my account once he is happy with the goods. Having 'given away' a car in 1981 when a crook gave me a stolen cheque for it I am anxious about the process. I won't release the car until the funds are in my account but is there anything else that I should do in order to protect myself? Thanks.
