Box on end of steering ribbon cable
Discussion
Thanks for the tip. I'll try that and see if it gets me back up and running but the mechanic at RT reckons it's the ECU because it's not just a button or two not working but rather they do weird stuff, as in not what that button should do but when you swap the little switches around the fault stays in the same connection plug. I reckon it uses resistance like radio steering controls so there is still a fair chance of a ribbon fault.
Where is the black box located?

Yes, on mine it is about half way down the stearing column.
However, when my ribbon cable started to break down i had some strange goings on with my buttons. I think the robbons tend to go at the top end where it has to twist and pass through to the small pcb in the steering wheel. Mine had cracked in a straight line right across all eight wires and i think they may have been shorting out on each other. I just cut the top 10 inches of robbon off and crimped the existing connector back on to it. Its been fine for over two years now.
