Constant feeling of needing to urinate?

Had it now for around 5 days and when I go hardly anything comes out and drinking lots of water goes straight through me within minutes. I've had cystitis in the past but this feels different with no discomfort when going - just the constant feeling of needing to go. I get relief when going but the feeling comes back again in no time.
I hate going doctors (haven't been in well over 10 years) so have tried home remedies such as cranberry tablets and D-Mannose powder but doesn't seem to do anything.
Is this something that will eventually go away on its own or do I really need to visit the doctor to get checked out?
Will a walk in centre issue antibiotics for this if that's whats needed?

Sounds like a UTI.

Anyway doc initially diagnosed an infection. Prescribed antibiotics which eased it but symptoms persisted so ongoing further tests including bloods and prostate. Now referred to the Urologist for further examination.
Chances are yours is a simple infection. Get booked in and before your appointment ask reception for a sample bottle and take it in with you to save time. They will dip it and confirm within seconds. A weeks worth of antibiotics and you will probably be on the mend.Dont ignore as it will only get worse and you could end up with a kidney infection........

Walk-in would normally be able to prescribe antibiotics if a urine dip indicates an infection, yep. If you don't have infection markers that'd be the point to stop screwing around and see your own GP immediately - but there's a decent argument to just go straight to the GP so that if any further action is needed, s/he can get on with it rather than making it two separate events.
I had a full on health medical two weeks ago, mainly because of weird chest feelings.
I was also a bit worried because I was having to pee every half hour.
So, loads of tests, heart tests, breathing tests, nerve tests, blood tests, PSA test included, stool tests, testicle examination, and finger up the bum.
All results were totally normal when everything was finally compiled. Prostate very slightly enlarged, normal for my age, but not hard, and PSA tests were perfectly normal.
Constant urinating was probably caused by four large cups of coffee, or more, every morning.
Long story, short, there is nothing to worry about getting your prostate examined. So don't be a dick, get you to the GP.

I guess a few guys might have guessed that 4 large cups of coffee every morning might cause anyone to pee quite a bit - and give weird chest feelings ! Caffeine can get a bit dangerous in a few people.I was also a bit worried because I was having to pee every half hour.

The weird chest feeling is called an ectopic (sp?) heartbeat. An extra beat thrown in occasionally, can be caused by many things, and lots of people get it. The peeing, apparently quite common at 57, coffee or otherwise.
Prostate exam? A good idea to have one fairly often after you reach 50.
Telling oneself 'oh, it is the coffee' is not advisable once one gets last 50, I was told by the doctor who examined me.

Docs are quite worried these days by problems that can't be resolved so easily because blokes won't go to the Doc until it's too late.........
When I had waterworks problems similar to the OP around four years ago I went to see my GP who did the usual tests incuding the 'finger up bum' . The PSA test result was borderline but he sent me to the hospital for for further tests, "just in case".
After a couple of biopsies I was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
Fortunately it was discovered at an early stage thanks to my GP but if I hadn't gone to see him the outcome is likely to have been very different as, during a prostate surgery pre-op assessment, I was found to a have heart problems and now have three stents fitted to deal with blocked arteries.
Three of my friends who didn't go to their GPs soon enough aren't here today.

There's been a publicity campaign this year, directed at men, highlighting that they should see a GP if indigestion, diarrhoea, stomach problems etc remain for 3 weeks or more, as they can be the early signs of cancer. Guys - you really do need to keep an eye on things, and see your GP if anything is on-going. You won't be feeling so macho when your kids are told that you won't be around much longer !
I'm sure I read somewhere that prostate cancer is nearly as prevalent as breast cancer, but never seems to get a mention. One of those things nobody likes to talk about.....
It took me ten years to decide to go and get checked, and the finger up bum was something I had to actually say I wanted. The middle aged Indian women who was my doctor for the exam told me the PSA test was fairly good, but if I wanted she could do a physical exam..... I hesitated for a few seconds, but told her to go ahead.

Nope just prescribed antibiotics which I guess he assumed its likely to be a UTI and since taking them I feel an improvement.So, what infection are they actually treating you for then??
Blood test today so will get results next week..
