Chimaera/Griffith Braided Brake Hoses

Hel Performance (www.helperformance.com) are producing braided brake hoses for TVRs. Does anyone know if the Griffith hoses are the same as those used on a Chimaera 400?

I've just fitted a set of Goodridge hoses to my Griffith and the order reference code for the set was identical of all Griffiths and Chimaeras

Thanks for the info. Needed to get the hoses for an MOT retest, so have ordered the HEL version as they can be here next day. Goodridge seem to take longer to arrive. Cheers

Can someone help me here. I'm after some braided brake hoses for my 98 Chimaera. I cant get the HEL link to work and google only finds me HEL motorcycle accessories.

Or does anyone know the Goodridge part numbers I'll need.

I would recommend you steer well clear of the Hel hoses. I ordered them from TVR parts and they arrived with the wrong fittings - and I mean completely wrong. The thread was even different. These were returned, and more were promised which didn't arrive. After much complaining a new set arrived and once again had the wrong fittings!

I discovered that they are made in the factory "to order" and they probably don't make many for TVRs. I'm still waiting for a refund as I bought some standard rubber ones from TVR to get it through an MOT. Go for Goodridge!

I spoke to Tim Lamont at ACT and ordered both a new K&N air filter (the one with the million mile guarantee) and some braided hoses at what i think are a very reasonable price.

So if you haven't got some yet, try Tim. Mine should be here tomorrow to allow me to put them on with the new Black Diamond discs and new pads on the front, Dot 5.1 and everything is sorted.

All my 'little somethings for the weekend' arrived today; new discs, pads, braided hoses and the filter.

Exactly what difference do braided hoses make? and how much extra do they cost over standard hoses.
Just for reference for when mine eventually need replacing..

my reason for doing the hose upgrade is about the following:

they don't expand under harsh breaking and are therefore transferring pressure better to the calipers

they should last longer than the standard and so there is likely to be an economy in terms of whole life cost

i like the idea of them being there, even though they can't be seen, i know its an extra bit of quality/safety

But primarily I look on this forum for advice as to how to improve the car's performance and the general thread that i have picked up is that before one tries to increase power etc one should increase the stopping power, then stick the car to the road better (shocks, my next adventure) then and really only then should you consider dinking about with increased power.

I also get a real kick out of doing mechanical things myself. I am not a mechanic and have always thought of myself as a bit of a mechanical pigmy hence the enjoyment i suppose.
