Identify a boat

Working in the north sea at the moment spotted this on the horizon. Looks like Navy possibly. hard to tell really.

It's either the Jura or the Hirta, owned by the Scottish Fisheries Protection Agency

Nice one, never heard of them before. how do they deter illegal fishing? do they just monitor vessels in the area and report any illegal activity or do they have any powers to enforce the laws?

They also operate regular surveillance flights to monitor fishing activities.

Neither have been updated recently on the tracker. Jura may be in the area going by it's last position.

Going to have to do a bit of reading on them.

If you're wanting to catch people illegal fishing I doubt you want to tell them where you are, so probably why AIS isn't showing.
