Don't know if this has already been done, but I do consider myself pretty clued up regarding taxes and economics, however, yesterday I discovered my road tax was not the usual £165, but £170!! I didn't hear or see anything about this in the budget!
Am I the only one that missed this 'stealth tax rise'??

Yep, went into post office yesterday with my form (which states £165 for 12 months RFL) - chap behind the counter very apologetically informed me £170!!! Great!!!

Was it changed at the last budget but set to come into force from now? They often do that and knowing the election was coming up it sounds like a strategic move from Blair.

Anything of importance is usually not mentioned in Brown's Budget Speeches. His speeches are prime examples of modern "spin" politics. The real meat of the budget is in the budget handouts which are usually very extensive but also very boring.
