Would appreciate folks thoughts on this one.

I have an Evoque with a 5 year service plan. Just been through it's 36 month service and MOT. No problems encountered but when I went to pick the car up I was told they recommend a brake fluid change, that would be ~£100.

Hang on....Check & top up brake fluid is on the service schedule ? Yes, but we also recommend changing it every 3 years which is not.

Just felt like a rip off to me.

Thoughts ?

It is due a brake fluid change at 3 years only although the price quoted sounds a little steep.

It was the same for me with a Ford.

BITD ,when I serviced SAABs ,brake fluid changes was included in the major services and wasn't an add on.

Anyone know if the 3 years is purely based on time or related to the expected 48k miles for 3 year service ? I ask as the car has only done 25k. Brake pads were checked and worst was only 40% worn.....so the system hasn't exactly been worked hard over its first 3 years.

Still annoyed that a recommended element of service is not on the annual service plan....especially when it's related to a safety related aspect. I was expecting 5 years of free service for these fluids, and now they want £100 (this is a LR garage).

The Ford people said that they test the water % in the fluid with a hygrometer and if it's above a certain figure they recommend

a fluid change.

It's an easy upsell for them.

I had my D4 brake fluid done just after its 6 year service as I didn't book it with the 6 year service.

I got it done for £38 at my local LR service centre. (Franchise not Indy)
