Gents,

F10 M5 is looking very attractive around the 35-40k bracket, what do people think will happen to these over next 18 months or so given new 4wd model?

Let's say I buy at 40k and 25k miles, sell in 3 years and 70k miles - I'd guess at a resale value of circa 20k?

Would you agree?

I think the prices will significantly soften as the new M5 looks like a better version, the F10 doesn't have a unique selling point like E60's V10.

Halve in value every three years, for a good while yet.

I'll be looking to get one in 12 months time. I expect to pick up a BMW AUC LCI car for around £20k with less than 40k miles.

That's the guide I follow unless you have something really special, which I don't think the F10 M5 is (neither is my E70 X5 sadly).

Agree with the other posters, wait atleast a year for 2015/2016 cars to make their way back as BMW were doing loads of finance deals to shift them and therefore where people saved on base price you would think most will have been specced up well plus a lot of them would still be in their service packs.

I have had a F10 albeit not a M5 but the space, refinement and comfort is amazing however there isn't anything 'special' about the F10 range and they tried the jahre and competition models but do not seem to have faired well (competition one for sale on ebay for c£12k off list price) but most M5s don't bode well from depreciation curve and longer for any investment returns.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but what are peoples' views on the F10 M5 this year?

I've been watching the prices for M6 and M6 for a year now (and saving up) and the prices have now been falling as much as I expected. So I'm not considering an f10 M5 this year. My budget is about £30k. Ideally 2014 and under 40k miles. What do you guys think? What sort of discount will I be able to get from dealers? Will part exchange my 335i or maybe sell to webuyanycar if I get a decent offer.

I’d imagine they will continue to fall for some time, certainly if the v10 is anything to go by these will Be sub £20k (at which point they are very appealing!)

I sadly think they’re dated now and given their values are holding they just don’t appear to be good enough value for an older car.

I appreciate they have performance but how do you justify running one? Would you pay cash or straight loan or pcp with no guaranteed future value? Then pay extra for a warranty. It would be hard to justify that over a brand new 520d on lease that’s got new tech etc

Yes I know it’s not got performance but I took a car of mine out yesterday that has performance but you can’t really use it when it’s wet, there’s speed cameras everywhere and people with dash cams and so on - if you used the performance you could lose your job and livelihood.

I think you’d have to be a huuuuge car fan to justify one over a new lease deal on a diesel

I don’t know if they are appealing though because by then they will be old and out of warranty. E60 M5s are hard to shift because no one dares by one - yes you could get a warranty but then you start thinking leasing a brand new car is just better value

They're starting to nudge £20k now for early cars with 100k miles or more.

Don't see why they wouldn't behave much like any other car in terms of how they drop. Sure there are ex lease cars coming back onto the market but the distribution on Autotrader seems fairly even at around 30 cars per year of availability so it's not like there's a disproportionately huge number of 3 year old ones available to depress the value of older cars.

Equally, the price of even the newest of the F10s is already so far away from what the price of a new model will be that there is no conflict between old and new model so can't envisage a massive readjustment arising from that either.

Looks like a lot of car for the money if you are able to look after it properly.

That's just you. Literally nobody in the market for an F10 M5 is thinking a leased 520d is the better option.

Well I don’t think this prediction is aging well....

Also, as above nobody thinking of a F10M5 would be thinking oh, a lease 520d .... and with new M5 in the 80-100k ball park, it’s 2x above current F10 market .... different customers.

Well most 2014 models are above £30k at the moment. Hopefully, they will fall more in the next few months and I'll be able to get one.

Been talking to a few BMW dealers over the phone/email and they don’t really negotiate on prices.

There seems to be quite a big stock on autotrader but prices are not falling below £30k for facelift cars! 🙁
