If I have it right, this engine is more powerful and more torquey than the 5.7, as well as lighter and slightly more modern, but since less is known about the 6-litre version, the older motor is at present better, from an angle of cheap tuning for more power.

Are their ANY easy ways of getting the Monaro 6.0 to sound a little more like it ought to?
Also, any ways of liberating a few extra horses to deal better with the somewhat immense kerbweight?

The 6.0 has some different sensors put in different places. It is currently an easier bet to tune the 5.7 as after market parts are readily available. That said, the 6.0 has a better intake assembly and does make more power 'out of the box'.

Later 6.0 engines will be a pain in some respects but the current or early versions will be good for retro conversions.

For really high performance the 5.7 will vibrate less, it most likely has a stronger block not that that will matter for street stuff.

Boosted.

Thanks. I would love 500 bhp some time.

Let's get it, run it in, then see what we can find!

Just found out that a cat.-back system will be ready soon and a full system a little later in the year.

A full system, with an ECU re-program, will give 450 bhp apparently. A rise of around 52bhp.
Nice!

Who is producing/selling that system?

Q: Why go cat back and remap ? The stock headers and restrictive std cats are strangling the BHP/Torque

The real BHP will come from a good set of 1.75" S/S headers, mated to sports cats and 3" S/S pipes. This allied with EFI live programming should give you better driveability throughout the range along with excellent BHP.
We have proven Australian components arriving shortly.

Don't think they have released the Tuning software for the LS2 yet! Soon though I believe.

I will certainly wait for the whole system to appear and do without cats. altogether.
Big headers and big pipes are the way to go!
Can't wait to get six thousand free-breathing cee cees!!!
