Which used Porsche for 80 - 85K?

If that was your budget for a used Porsche...which model/version would you go for?
I'm discounting the SUV's and Panamera focusing on the 911 /Boxster/ Cayman variants. - Discuss
As an aside, I have owned earlier 911's in the past - a 2.7 (74 model) a 964 C2 and a 993, the last was about 8 years ago...

PTV is dire and wears out the rear bakes like butter as fast as hell, and there is zero adjustment so you wear out tyres as fast as hell.
Brakes are the leaseof the worry lol , but if you have PCCB then PTV will wear the rear as fast as hell, that's £12k for a pair of new rears please !!
:-) I think the guy who tracks his yellow one has had 4 sets of rear disks to date lol
PS standard steels on the 981 Spyder are upto track work btw they are the larger 911 calipers set up now seen on the 718, not the noddy 981 standard affair.

This. Close the thread. I was at the PEC this week....the Porsche instructor I has has just owned one of these himself. Cited the slightly softer suspension than the GT4 as making it a better road car.
From a depreciation perspective there were a lot less sold than the GT4.
I own a Manual 997 GTS coupe which I love but wouldn't spend the £75k to £80k on one that some dealers are asking now...I'd buy a 981 Spyder.
If the car has to be PDK I'd go 997 Turbo S. They are selling in a day or two at the moment...Redline had a lovely red one which sold for £85k in 24 hours a couple of weeks ago.

If you want the newest car you can get and 2 seats work, 981 GT4 or 981 Spyder for sure.
997.1 GT3 is a good motor (I have one). If you really want only a 911, something raw, don't mind old tech and want something more analogue then that'll fit the bill. Even older and even more raw? 996 GT3. If you want a normal road car then 991 GTS or 997.2 Turbo S would fit that bill, the turbo S being a rocketship.

981 spyder if you can live with the roof although I would save cash and buy the 987 Spyder which would be my choice if I wanted a cab. that's if you can find a good one ! But if you want a fun coupe 981 Gt4 personally wouldn't bother with 911 turbo as a weekend toy a manual 997.2 Gts would be good but the prices are high so I would go manual 997.2S or even a manual 997.2 non pasm car ! The modern 991 are ok but not a lover of pdk or of the 7 speed manual box although newer 991.2 manuals are meant to be better!Happy hunting
