F/a-XX Not stealthy?

The US Navy seem to have decided the F35 is not for them. Back tracking on the order, rumours of buying more Super Hornets etc. Hence they have a new requirement the F/A XX. It also looks like Boeing are trying to shoe in and are trying to persuade the Scrambled eggs in charge to buy a non-stealthy aircraft. Some commentators are of the opinion they want a Super Super Hornet which to them is pretty much the thinking that Killed the Tomcat Despite it being the better aircraft as proposed. It looks like Boeing have some sort of hold on the process and this isn't going down well in some quarters.

I would have thought Boeing would push for them to buy Advanced Super Hornets after all the fuss they were making about 50% reduced radar cross section, better range etc. Seems pointless to me for them to do all that RnD then flog and older product.

They've decided they don't need the extra steathliness of the Advanced Super Hornet due to the number of F-35's they will be getting. They just want it's capabilities in a simpler "easier to rapidly produce" platform so it looks like they are going for a cheaper, and therefore more numerous, option.
