Some organisations print documents and reports in a 'book' style format. I find this hard to read and the printer doesn't like it either.

Purely for example purposes only http://www.englandrugbyfiles.com/annualreport/2016...

Another one referring to High Court fees http://tinyurl.com/nybn3jf

Why do they do it? There is even a page turning noise when moving through the pages! What for?

Is there any way I can put them into some other format?

You could install a PDF writer, this then shows up as an additional printer. If you then print the doc to this pdf printer you will end up with a PDF file .

Forgive the question, but how do I do that?

Install something like http://www.primopdf.com

When you then go to print, in the list of printers it will show up. Select it and print, and a pdf will open up. Your print button in its own menu so should work fine, not sure of the second link though.
